Changes to Skills
Assessment for Accountants, Finance Managers, Corporate Treasurers and External
Auditors

Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia
(ICAA) have announced that,
from 1 July 2010, the skills
assessment criteria for General Skills Migration will be as
follows:
- A formal qualification
assessed as being at least comparable to an Australian Bachelor's degree;
- Completion of at
least nine out of the 12 core knowledge areas at tertiary level (each nominated
occupation has four mandatory core knowledge areas);
- International
English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic
test result of a
score of at least seven (7) on each of the four components (speaking, reading,
listening and writing).
The third skills
assessing authority for Accountants, NIA
(National Institute of Accountants), has advised that it will be
making a decision about possible changes to its skills assessment by the end of
the week ending Friday 7 May 2010.

these assessing authorities has a table of the core knowledge areas and the
compulsory (mandatory) and optional areas.
